There are two distinct functions within finance which are split between Wallington and Milton Keynes. One is day-to-day processing. This is a shared support service for the whole of Home Retail Group . They work in partnership with the Commercial, Supply Chain and Marketing teams dealing with aspects of financial management that include transaction processing, control and reporting. The division consists of a number of departments including payables, receivables, financial and management accounting. They also oversee the core financial ledger systems.

The other is responsible for managing and challenging corporate and functional budgets. Fully integrated into the business, they ensure the robustness and integrity of all our financial information and are essential to a variety of initiatives that support our strategic growth. The rigour of the financial planning and analysis they provide is critical in determining our future direction.

A little recognition for a part of the Finance function that may not be the first aspect to come to mind was the ‘Gold Award’ to Argos as part of the Payroll Giving Quality Mark.
